In November 2018 the largest wildfire in California history incinerated the town of Paradise in Butte County.  Among the 16,000 buildings destroyed was the Paradise Genealogical Society building that housed their library.  Over 3000 books and 500 periodicals, local history files, computers, office equipment, shelving - everything is gone, consumed by the fire.

Now, six months later, the Paradise Genealogical Society is coming back to life.  Thanks to the generosity of the Annie Bidwell Parlor Native Daughters of the Golden West, the society has a temporary place to hold their monthly meetings - on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 965 Salem Street, Chico.

The society has leased space for their office and to begin rebuilding their library.  The address for this place is:  2683 Hegan Lane, Chico, CA  95928.   The insurance coverage they had will help to eventually replace the building and tables and chairs that were destroyed by the fire, but nothing more.

If you or your genealogical society have duplicates of books or a surplus of your publications that can be donated to the Paradise Genealogical Society, please contact:
